DJ KYD was born one evening in 1991, when he heard an amazing sound which changed his life, a local radio station was playing a “Scratch” on the evening radio mix show. Falling in love with it immediately, and turned to Turntables. Much to his mother’s dismay, he began “scratching” his moms LP’s on their old home turntable continually breaking her turntable needles. Soon after his 9th Birthday his mom got him two Turntables and a mixer to keep him away from her electronic equipment. He was obsessed with scratching and DJing; it became his lifestyle which he fed every day and at night after school. His first gig came while in 5th Grade at his schools Home Coming, his teachers where greatly impressed with his abilities.

At 14 he began to hang around other local DJs and spinning at house parties and schools. He by far was the youngest DJ so they named him “Kyd”. His influences included Chicago’s music scene as well as DJs, and radio stations such as WBMX, B96, WGCI, guest Dj appearances at well-known venues as well as numerous Dj’s he grew up with.

He became the resident DJ at the age of 16 where he began to spin at Chicago’s night clubs such as; The Royal, The Scene, Cha Cha’s, and The Rear, with DJ Chicago and others. He was invited on numerous occasions as guest DJ at Circuit Night Club, Kabooms, Circus, Spot 6, The Dragon, Drew’s Lounge, La Herradura, La Hacienda, and other night clubs throughout Chicago Land. DJ Kyd was featured for the world known Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade. That was his first nationally televised event, which became a annual event for him.

As his reputation grew, he began to mix tapes. He took pride in never spinning the same routine always changing with a new vibe every night at clubs. However with the music scene constantly changing, Dj Kyd does not allow himself to follow the usual trends. Dj Kyd draws on his spinning instincts, the atmosphere and his ability to be diverse instead of imitating other Dj’s.  Dj Kyd is a true music enthusiast that can mix and play music as his creativity comes alive taking people to a different place of mind.

Not many DJs you know can mix House music with Merengue or Bachata! Some of Kyd’s music takes you to a whole new world you have never experienced before.  Providing an atmosphere where they can hear something different.

In California he has spun at El Mexicali, as well as many other clubs in San Jose; KYD was also invited to spin at the well-known Club Caliente in San Francisco. KYD’s style and selection are unique, his presence invigorating and exciting, it starts the moment he puts on the headset and goes to work, not many match his diversity and knowledge and the industry must know that this is one DJ to be on the lookout for.

Kyd has been in the entertainment industry as a DJ/Promotions assistant manager and special events coordinator. He has had several write ups in local publications as well as produced tons of mix tapes which vary in music styles demonstrating his unique diversity.

In 1997 KYD Productions was born after 6 years of experience in the club scene and performing for weddings, sweet 16s and other events.
